Already "prepping" for next year's BCA MEMBER DIRECTORY ... the BCA is busy processing business data for inclusion in its annual reference book, which lists all new or renewal members in good standing — as of January 15, 2007. Used by product developers to locate distributors and by consumers seeking any- and everything pool-related, the BCA Member Directory is one-stop-shopping for billiards, pure and simple!

Maximize your marketing presence with a listing in the BCA Member Directory, by making sure that your membership is active BY January 15, 2007.

 :: PUBLIC RELATIONS UPDATE

TOP BILLIARD ROOMS IN THE NEWS ... the team at Alan Taylor Communications has been pitching Billiards Digest’s annual top ten new billiard rooms story to appropriate markets, and has received these major "hits" on the material:

The Albuquerque Tribune ran a note in its ‘Behind the Bleachers’ column on 11/04 (The Carom Club, #2); the Florida Times-Union included a note in the “What’s New” business brief section (Top Hat Billiards, #9); and the The Niagara Gazette is writing a feature story on the Snyder family (winners of 2nd place “best home room design”) for Friday, 11/10.

  • ALSO ... ESPN’s “Jim Rome Is Burning” producers confirmed the photo shoot with Jeanette Lee at the Cuetec Cues WPBA National 9-Ball Championship this week.
  • Arranged for Family Business Magazine to profile Olhausen Billiards' recent move
  • CNBC’s “Mike on the Money” interested in a tour of the Olhausen facility and an interview with one or both of the Olhausen brothers
  • Working with Businessweek.com to highlight Poker Pool in the site's holiday gift guide
  • Liquid Magazine to devote an entire story solely to the newest billiards products

Help ATC pitch your line ... Want to see your company in the news? All BCA Business Members are encouraged to submit their latest product news to Tom Cosentino. MEMBER MARKETING 101 ... From "52 Ways to Make Pool Everybody's Game"

TIP № 47

Highlight NEW products and drive traffic with regular mailings

STRATEGY:

One of the most powerful words in advertising is “new.” With new-product announcements, you keep your business top-of-mind with customers and portray an image of a pool resource that’s on the cutting edge. Best of all, regular mailers give customers a reason to return to your store again and again.

EXECUTION:

  • Design a simple and consistent graphic format that customers will identify with your store
  • On the front of your mailer, include a teaser promising something of value, or an intriguing question to entice recipients to read more
  • Write about the new product line, emphasizing the benefits to the customer
  • Include photos or illustrations to add interest
  • Extend a limited-time offer to create a sense of urgency

The following month I competed in the U.S. Open in Dayton, Ohio and finished 3rd.” She credits her determination to the difficulty of the game itself. [ press release ]
