MEMBER MARKETING
101 ... From "52 Ways to Make Pool Everybody's Game" |
|
TIP № 16 |
|
Create a Web site that
promotes your business
24 hours a day, 7 days a week |
|
 |
|
|
|
STRATEGY: |
|
|
Why stop ringing up
sales when business
hours end? With a Web
site, you can extend
your hours and your
customer base. Prospects
from across the city and
around the country are
switching from the
Yellow Pages to the
Internet to shop for
products and services
when it's convenient for
them. |
|
|
|
|
EXECUTION: |
|
- Locate a
Web site developer to help
you choose a simple Web
address, a site host and to
register your site with
search engines.
- Start
simple with a site that
includes your location (and
don't forget the map!),
hours of operation, phone
number and menu of products
and services.
- Add
interactive features such as
shopping, a guest book
(builds your prospect
database!), and links to
related sites.
- Register
your site with billiard room
locator sites as well as the
BCA marketplace page.
- Get
product images and artwork
from manufacturers and the
BCA.
- Send
e-mails to advertise sales,
new products and events.
- Update
the site on a regular basis.

MEMBER NEWS |

Loria
... is a BCA business member with
quite a bit to celebrate! Family owned and operated since 1912,
the company is
celebrating its 95th anniversary. Originally based in New York City, the company
expanded to Westchester in 1957, and now Yonkers is the sole
location. Loria provides professional full service for
any pool table, from delivery, dismantle, move, setups, relevels,
re-cloth, to refinishing and more.
The original company name, V. Loria & Sons,
was founded in 1912 by Italian immigrant Verniere Loria
(1887-1937) in New York City, in the Bowery section of lower
Manhattan. A cabinetmaker by trade, Verniere crafted all of the
pool tables by hand until his untimely death. His son, Roger
(1914-1996) took over and carried on his family's proud
tradition through the Great Depression and for the next five
decades.
With Roger's devoted management, and his
brother Alfred's master craftsmanship, a reputation for the
finest of quality and service in the pool industry was being
built in the five boros of New York City and beyond. In the
process, Roger introduced bowling products to the mix and
founded the second location of V. Loria & Sons in Yonkers, New
York (just north of the Bronx) in 1957, separate from the
Manhattan location.
Being responsible for the New York City
branch, Roger eventually entrusted the management of this new
branch to his eldest son (also Roger) in 1959. Barely out of
high school, the younger Roger introduced awards products as a
reaction to the popularity of bowling leagues at the time. He
also realized the critical importance of recognition in all
walks of life, and developed an extensive line of trophies,
plaques, and every other symbol of recognition available.
Since then, that area has grown into its own
division, Loria Awards, which has a full-service manufacturing
shop and showroom in Yonkers. Recently, V. Loria & Sons and
Loria Awards have been consolidated into the single entity of
Loria Corporation. The bowling products had been discontinued in
favor of expanding the billiards selection in 1989.
From 1986 to 1989, the younger Roger's sons
(Roger Jr. and Stephen), daughter (Marie Elena), as well as his
son-in-law (David) joined the company in varying capacities.
Since that period, the entire family has devoted immeasurable
time and efforts to forge the most complete selection of
billiard and award products in the industry. The proud family
tradition began by the company's founder, Verniere, still
prevails three generations later from products and presentation
to sales and service. |
