TIP №
13

Sponsor a cause-related event to attract new customers, while showing support for the community.

STRATEGY:

Host an event designed to benefit a local non-profit organization. The event can be a celebrity tournament, a trick shot exhibition, or anything that generates participation and exposure. Recruit corporate sponsors for additional cash, prizes or team sponsorships. You can also partner with another pool room or retailer to share expenses and double exposure. Charity events can attract new customers, while associating your store or room with a wholesome, community-oriented image.

EXECUTION:

  • Boost media exposure by considering a charity already associated with a celebrity.

  • Determine what the organization needs most (e.g., food, cash donations).

  • Solicit local celebrities to attend in support of a good community cause.

  • Sell memorabilia that can be autographed.

  • Consider ticket giveaways during drive-time radio shows.

  • Distribute press releases before and after the event.

  • Invite a local radio station to broadcast live from the event.

  • Distribute advertising flyers and posters to promote the event.
