BCA INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM
MISSION: To raise the quality of billiard instruction; make it available to everyone who desires to increase their abilities; and encourage a lifetime enjoyment in cue sports.
To become a BCA Recognized Instructor: You must train under the supervision of a BCA Advanced or BCA Master Instructor or attend a BCA Instructor Academy. Upon completion of the three-day training course, the instructor will forward your paperwork to the BCA office. An invoice will be sent to you for the annual dues of $35.00. To advance to the next level (Certified), you will have to be at the Recognized level for a minimum of one year. See the certification guidelines for full program details.

COMMITTEE NEWS
  1. There are currently 137 active BCA Instructors and 122 reserve BCA Instructors in the BCA Instructor Program.
  2. August 2007: The BCA has undergone a recent transition and the Instructor Program is now being managed by Fran Crimi. Fran, who became a part of the Instructor Program in 1992 and is currently a master instructor, has a long history with the BCA and the Instructor Committee, and will be a great asset to the program. BCA INSTRUCTOR CODE OF CONDUCT
 
  • My first obligation is to offer my student the best of my knowledge and experience.
  • I will do this in a manner conducive to good learning in a positive non-threatening way.
  • I will dress appropriately, be well-groomed and refrain from using offensive language or overly expressive terms.
  • I will not become impatient or intolerant or show any visible signs of irritation.
  • I will not smoke or use alcoholic beverages during instructional sessions.
  • My conduct as a professional individual will be exemplary at all times in or around a pool establishment.
  • I will refrain from placing my hands on a student without permission or a pre-explanation of what I am about to do and why.
  • I will refrain from speaking negatively about any other BCA Certified Instructor or their published work or any establishment with which I am not associated.
  • I will endeavor through a continuing process of learning to improve my instructional skills and my ability to present these skills.
