Broadcast support is exceptional, with four (4) hours of
first-run programming secured for airing by ESPN / ESPN2. Viewer ratings in 2006
set a new benchmark with a .64 and ESPN has historically exceeded its contract
hours – at least six times over – in each year of the consecutive season
showings. Since
the BCA first began airing its pro 9-Ball Championships on ESPN
in 1999, both live and tape-delayed competition broadcasts have
skyrocketed in popularity.
Viewer ratings have ranged from a .29 average
rating (253,469 households) for the debut of all four rounds, to
a peak of .64 (586,540) for a single showing of the women's final.
ESPN's benchmark rating average for all taped sporting events is
.20, making billiards a market standout for both the channel and
official BCA sponsors, who win big with a high return on their
ad investment.
Official sponsors may display their company
name, logo, phone number and/or website URL in rotating arena
banners, just like those used by the NBA in pro basketball
games. But unlike 30-second commercial spots, these banners
cannot be edited out of footage, assuring each sponsor an equal
amount of rotational time to present their message to millions
of billiard fans on ESPN and ESPN2. [see

Karen Corr has won her fourth EnjoyPool.com 9-Ball Championship. Corr faced off against Allison Fisher in the first television match of the day after beating Fisher for the hot-seat on Thursday night.
Corr started off in complete control and took a 2-0 lead, but Fisher came back to tie the match at 2-2. Fisher took her first lead at 3-2, but Corr came back to tie the match at 3-3 and then retake the lead at 4-3 and then 5-3. Fisher cut the lead to one at 5-4, but Corr won the final two games for the 7-4 win. Corr earned $15,000 for first place and Fisher settled for $9,000. Defending champion Jasmin Ouschan took third. |

Men's Division:
Some of the best instructors in the country were in attendance this week in Vegas at the BCA 8-Ball Championship giving free instructional clinics to the amateur players. Those clinics were nothing compared to the clinic that Dennis Orcollo put on in the finals of the EnjoyPool.com 9-Ball Championship.
Orcollo took complete control of the match from the first game and never relinquished that control on his way to a 7-0 whitewashing of young gun Shane Van Boening. Van Boening's first real chance to make any headway in the match was in rack six, but he came up short on his 9-ball shape and missed the ball badly. He had another chance in rack seven when Orcollo played a weak safety, but Van Boening's return safe was even worse and it left Orcollo all the chance he needed to run out the final rack.
Orcollo earned $15,000 for first place and Van Boening settled for $9,000. Mike Davis finished in third place.
